Introduction
Good oral health is essential to the overall health and well-being of California's
children. Unfortunately, the state's current system of delivering oral health
care to the children who need it most is vastly under-resourced, resulting
in a large and growing number of children who suffer from preventable oral
health diseases. In order to effectively combat this critical problem, additional
investment in California's oral health care system is required.
Many other states, as well as the federal government, have already
investigated ways to generate new revenue to improve children's oral health
care. For the well-being of its children and its future prosperity, California
should do the same.
